Frequently Asked Questions About Survey for Consultation

    1.    What is all this about?
Just as we had a Archdiocesan Synod in 2001, so also we are going to have an Archdiocesan Consultation. The aim of this Consultation is to take stock of ourselves as Church – the progress we have made, the changes  in our world which are affecting us, and how we can effectively respond to these.
In order to do this, the first step is a survey – for which we need the help of the SCC animators.
    2.    What do we have to do?
For the survey to be conducted in a scientific manner, we need a list of families in each SCC of your parish. If you already have that, then bring it along for the meeting as per the schedule. If you do not have that data, then please ask your SCC coordinators to get the data – I have already sent the format for that. Keep the remarks column blank. (for details refer to http://sccmumbai.blogspot.in/)
    3.    Who all have to come for meeting?
The (lay) parish SCC coordinator,  the APC representative, and a few zonal heads (about 4-5 persons from each parish)
    4.    What to bring for the meeting?
Bring the list of families in the SCCs of your parish – we will be using it during the meeting to show you how to statistically select the persons from whom you have to collect the survey data. Once you do this exercise for a few SCCs of your parish, then you can go back to the parish and do the for all the SCCs of your parish
    5.    What is the agenda of the meeting?
    • Welcome & brief outline of the Consultation Process
    • Presentation of the methodology of the survey, with special emphasis on sampling procedures – how to scientifically select the persons from whom data is to be collected
    • Group work  by SCC animators  on their respective list of families so as to select the ones to be interviewed for data collection for a few SCCs in their parish
    • Guidelines on how to collect data (do’s and don’ts)
    • Time for clarifications
    6.    What if I can’t make it for the meeting?
The list of various meetings is given. All the meetings will have the same content (the meeting in Uttan will be in Marathi). If you cannot make it to your scheduled meeting, then pl  go for another convenient meeting; else your parish will be missed out for the Survey!
